I am an unabashed fan of New Jersey’s program that requires new teen drivers to display a decal that law enforcement can use to identify vehicles driven by teens.  The fears about pedophiles preying on young female drivers have not occurred – not even once — in New Jersey, and meanwhile the State’s 2009 teen driver law improvements, passed in 2009, have reduced teen driver fatalities by 42 percent.  The article linked below provides an update on the law’s gradual acceptance by New Jersey parents and the growing evidence of its effectiveness, but also notes that there are many holdouts who rail against the decals as an invasion of privacy, and spout other baseless claims against the program.  For example, take a look at the second comment following the article — proclaiming personal liberty and privacy as more important than teen driver safety.  Puh-leeze…….
